Discord Timezone Conversion Guide

Coordinate global events without confusion. This walkthrough covers manual conversion, automation with bots, and hybrid approaches that pair timestamps with countdowns and reminders.

Start here: Generate a base timestamp inside the Timestamp Generator, then adapt it using the workflows below.

1. Manual Conversion (Fast & Reliable)

Use this method when you post announcements yourself.

  1. Pick the event time in your own timezone.
  2. Convert it to Unix seconds with the generator or Unix Converter.
  3. Embed the timestamp: <t:unix:F> for absolute + <t:unix:R> for relative.
  4. Add a note like “Auto-adjusts to your timezone” to boost trust.

2. Countdown Embed (Visual Reminders)

Ideal for launch events and community streams.

  • Create a timer with the Countdown Timer and place it in the pre-announcement message.
  • Include a static timestamp in the same message so members can bookmark it.
  • Pin the message or add it to your announcement channel topic for quick reference.

3. Bot Automation Recipes

Discord.js

const target = Math.floor(new Date('2025-02-15T18:00:00Z').getTime() / 1000);
await channel.send({
  content: `Product AMA starts at  (that's ).`
});

Python (discord.py)

from datetime import datetime, timezone

start = int(datetime(2025, 2, 15, 18, 0, tzinfo=timezone.utc).timestamp())
await channel.send(
    f"Scrim begins at  — that's  from now."
)

Store timestamps in UTC. Discord handles the conversion when you render them inside <t:...>.

4. Hybrid Scheduling Checklist

  • Publish the announcement with timestamps and countdowns.
  • Create a follow-up reminder 24 hours before the event.
  • Automate a “starting now” ping using your bot or the countdown preset.
  • Log attendance or outcomes using snowflake timestamps for auditing.

Troubleshooting

Why does the preview show the wrong time?

Confirm that your Unix value is in seconds. If you paste milliseconds, Discord assumes “far future” dates. Convert using the Unix tool and retest.

Team members still miss events—what now?

Pair the timestamp with explicit timezone labels (“Local time + UTC”). Encourage members to enable mobile notifications and pin the message.

Can I sync with Google Calendar?

Yes. Export your event as an .ics file, share it, and include both the calendar link and the Discord timestamp in the same announcement.

Keep every timezone aligned

Combine timestamps, countdowns, and automation for a frictionless scheduling workflow.
